FAQs on Punjab Holidays in 2027
Mid-January gives the longest run: Lohri on Thursday, 14 January and Maghi with the Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on Friday, 15 January roll straight into the weekend, for four consecutive days off. Guru Ravidas Jayanti and Maha Shivratri both fall on Saturdays in 2027, so they don't add an extra day off beyond the weekend. Vaisakhi falls midweek on Wednesday, 14 April.
Yes. Lohri falls on Thursday, 14 January 2027, and Punjab has notified it as a gazetted holiday in recent years. As with any state-specific date, it's worth confirming against the state's own 2027 notification once it is issued.
The Department of General Administration typically issues it in November or December the year before, so Punjab's official 2027 order is expected toward the end of 2026. Until then, this list reflects the standard panchang placements used to plan ahead.
Punjab observes 26 notified holidays in 2027: 17 central gazetted holidays observed nationwide and 9 specific to the state.
Yes. Holidays notified for Punjab apply across Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala, unless a specific government notification states otherwise for a particular district or town.

These are the 2027 holiday dates as currently available. The final schedule for General and Restricted Holidays comes from the Government of Punjab, notified under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Dates for religious festivals can shift based on moon sightings or a later government announcement. Check the latest State Gazette notification or your organization's HR policy before planning leave or financial transactions around any of these dates.
