Assam's 2027 Holiday Calendar
Assam's 2027 calendar runs on 28 notified holidays in total, 17 central gazetted days observed nationwide and 11 specific to the state.
Assam's Own Additions
The holidays specific to Assam are Magh Bihu (Bhogali Bihu), Me-Dam-Me-Phi, Bohag Bihu (Rongali Bihu) begins, Bohag Bihu (second day), Bohag Bihu (third day), Durga Puja - Maha Saptami, Durga Puja - Maha Ashtami, Durga Puja - Maha Navami, Kati Bihu (Kongali Bihu), Lachit Divas, Asom Divas (Su-Ka-Pha Divas).
Assam's 2027 calendar combines the same 17 central gazetted holidays most states observe, Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti among them, with 11 days specific to the state, one of the longer state-specific lists in this series. The three Bihu festivals anchor that list: Magh Bihu falls on Makara Sankranti, Friday, 15 January 2027; Bohag Bihu runs from 14 to 16 April; and Kati Bihu sits on Tula Sankranti, 18 October. Civic days like Me-Dam-Me-Phi, Lachit Divas and Asom Divas round out the rest. These dates follow the standard panchang and stay provisional until the Government of Assam's General Administration Department issues its 2027 notification.

FAQs on Assam Holidays in 2027
Two stretches stand out. Bohag Bihu runs Wednesday, 14 April, through Friday, 16 April, then rolls straight into the weekend and Mahavir Jayanti on Monday, 19 April, six consecutive days off in total. Durga Puja does something similar in October: Maha Saptami through Maha Navami run Wednesday, 6 October, to Friday, 8 October, then Dussehra falls on the Saturday right after, stretching the break to five days through Sunday, 10 October. On top of those, Magh Bihu (Friday, 15 January), Good Friday (Friday, 26 March) and Diwali (Friday, 29 October) each add a day onto the weekend that follows, and Bakrid (Monday, 17 May) and Kati Bihu (Monday, 18 October) do the same from the other side.
Yes. Kati Bihu, also called Kongali Bihu, falls on Monday, 18 October 2027, one of Assam's 11 state-specific holidays. It extends the weekend before it into a three-day break.
Assam's General Administration Department usually issues its holiday notification toward the end of the preceding year, so the 2027 list is expected around late 2026. Until it's out, the dates on this page follow the standard panchang, so check them against the official notification once it is published.
Assam observes 28 notified holidays in 2027 in total: 17 central gazetted holidays observed nationwide and 11 specific to the state, one of the longer state-specific lists in this series.
Yes. Holidays notified for Assam apply across Guwahati, Silchar, Dibrugarh, Jorhat and Tezpur, unless a specific government notification states otherwise for a particular district or town.
