Workforce planning is a continuous process of analyzing what an organization will need in terms of the size, type, experience, and knowledge of its workforce to achieve the objectives and goals laid out in its strategic plan.

It is used to plan ahead for when a company will need to hire new people, and in what order different roles should be filled.
