Voluntary Benefits

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Voluntary benefits are employee benefits paid for by the employee rather than the employer, though the employer typically covers the cost of administering the scheme. The money is often deducted directly from the employee’s salary for simplicity, though that is not always the case. These benefits are usually provided through a third-party benefits provider.

Voluntary benefits let employers offer a wider range of options to employees without taking on the cost of fully employer-paid benefits.
