Termination Letter

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

A termination letter is an official document from an employer that formally informs an employee their employment is ending. It usually specifies the reason for termination, the effective date, details on severance or benefits, and may outline the employee’s rights and responsibilities after they leave.

The letter gives the termination process a clear, documented record, one that follows standard HR practices and generally accounts for the relevant legal and procedural requirements.
