Talent Acquisition

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Talent acquisition is the process of identifying and bringing in skilled workers to meet an organization’s needs, both now and down the line. The talent acquisition team is responsible for identifying, sourcing, assessing, and hiring candidates to fill open positions within a company.

Talent acquisition is often distinguished from recruitment by its longer-term, strategic focus. Where recruitment tends to be reactive, filling a specific open role, talent acquisition looks further ahead: building relationships with potential candidates, understanding future hiring needs, and positioning the company as a place people want to work before a role even opens up.

Employer branding, workforce planning, diversifying a company’s talent pool, and building a strong candidate pipeline are generally considered the cornerstones of talent acquisition. Together, they help a company consistently attract and hire the right people rather than scrambling each time a position needs to be filled.
