Social HR

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Social HR is the use of online social media platforms to carry out HR functions, most notably recruitment, but also employee engagement and internal discussions. Social HR traditionally centered on mainstream platforms like LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter), where recruiters sourced candidates and employees engaged with company updates and each other.

More recently, software vendors have started building social features directly into cloud-based HR suites, things like activity feeds, likes, comments, and recognition walls, so organizations can get similar engagement internally instead of relying on public platforms.

This shift matters because it gives companies more control over the conversation and the data behind it. Employees can celebrate wins, ask questions, and stay connected to company culture without stepping outside the organization’s own systems, while HR teams gain visibility into engagement patterns they would otherwise never see.
