Reverse Mentoring

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Reverse mentoring is a workplace initiative where older employees are mentored by younger employees. For example, a younger employee with a deep understanding of social media might mentor someone more senior on how to use it effectively.

Companies like Caterpillar and Schneider Electric have used reverse mentoring to expose their senior employees not just to new technologies, but to generational, geographic, and gender-specific perspectives that help them navigate an ever-evolving workplace.
