Reimbursable Expenses

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Reimbursable expenses are business-related costs that employees pay out of pocket and later recover from their employer through an expense claim process. To qualify, these costs need to meet company policy and serve a legitimate business purpose.

HR and finance teams set the guidelines for which expenses qualify, and typically require documentation like receipts and expense reports. Companies reimburse these costs so employees do not end up bearing the financial burden of legitimate work-related expenses themselves.
