Quality Management

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Quality management is a system for making sure a product or service meets a standard of excellence, and that the process used to create it is efficient and effective too. It rests on three components: quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement.

  • Quality control (QC): the process of reviewing the quality of all factors involved in production.
  • Quality assurance (QA): preventing mistakes and defects in manufactured products, and avoiding problems when delivering products or services to customers.
  • Quality improvement (QI): systematic, continuous actions that lead to measurable improvement in services and in the quality of the targeted products and services.
