Preboarding
Preboarding is the period between a new hire accepting a job offer and their first day of work. This phase covers preparing employees before they officially start: setting expectations and completing administrative tasks that would otherwise eat into their first week. Companies use this time to send welcome packages, handle paperwork digitally, arrange workspace setup, and introduce team members virtually.
Preboarding is about more than paperwork. Done well, it shows new hires the company is invested in their success and creates a positive first impression that can affect how long they stick around. New hires get their equipment, access credentials, and initial training materials in advance, so the first day can focus on relationship-building and real work instead of administrative logistics.
