Objectives and Key Results (OKR)

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 2 mins read

Objectives and Key Results (OKR) is a goal-setting framework that helps teams and organizations achieve their goals through specific, measurable outcomes. By design, the framework creates a consistent standard that the whole organization can adopt and work toward together.

Key results are the metrics used to measure how much progress a team has actually made. Because those metrics include real numbers, it becomes much easier for an organization to communicate progress toward a goal in a way that is actually meaningful, rather than vague.

The OKR framework was created by Andy Grove, often called the father of OKRs.
