Nominal Group Technique

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Nominal Group Technique (NGT) is a variation of brainstorming where team members come up with ideas individually, then rank them as a group. It was developed by Andre Delbecq and Andrew H. Van de Ven, and companies use it to identify problems, generate solutions, and make decisions.

The technique works by taking everyone’s ideas and opinions into account, weighing them, and reaching a decision through a voting process that the whole team agrees on.
