Loss of Pay (LOP)

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Loss of Pay (LOP) is a deduction from an employee’s salary due to unauthorized absences or leave taken without pay, usually because they took more leave than what was allotted or approved. Employers use LOP policies to keep compensation fair and maintain attendance discipline, making it the financial consequence of unapproved or excessive time off.
