IT Declaration

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

An IT declaration is when employees disclose financial details, like planned investments and eligible deductions, to their employer at the start of the financial year. Employers use this declaration to calculate the correct TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) on an employee’s salary.

It typically covers information on investments in tax-saving instruments, insurance premiums, and other eligible expenses, which lets employees take advantage of the tax-saving opportunities available to them.
