Gross-Up

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

A gross-up is a financial adjustment made to a payment to cover the taxes the recipient would otherwise owe on that amount. Companies use gross-ups for things like employer-provided benefits, or when they want to compensate employees for the tax liability created by a specific payment, such as a bonus or relocation expenses.
