Grievance

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

A grievance is an employee’s dissatisfaction with the company’s work policies or conditions, usually tied to an alleged violation of a rule, policy, or law. Grievances may or may not be justified, but they generally point to a gap between what the employee expects from the company and what they actually get.

Grievances need to be addressed properly, since letting them sit can lower an employee’s motivation and performance and hurt the overall work environment.
