Full-Time Equivalent (FTE)

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) is a metric that translates workload into units of a full-time employee. It is mainly used to convert part-time hours or temporary staff into the equivalent of a full-time job.

An FTE of 1.0 means a full-time role, while an FTE of 0.5 means a part-time position where the employee works half the hours of a full-time counterpart.
