Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a U.S. law that lets eligible employees take unpaid, job-protected leave for specific family or health reasons, including a serious health condition, the birth or adoption of a child, or caring for a sick family member. It applies to companies with 50 or more workers and provides up to 12 weeks of leave each year.
