Downshifting

Updated on: October 14, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 1 min read

Downshifting is when someone deliberately reduces the responsibility and complexity in their life to get a better quality of life. At work, that usually means scaling back to find a more sustainable work-life balance, often to spend more time with family, cut down on stress, and keep work from spilling over into personal time.
