Cross Functional Teams

Most organizations are split into different departments and hierarchy levels. Cross-functional teams (CFTs) pull people together from across those divides, marketing, sales, support, HR, engineering, all within the same organization, to work toward one shared goal. The idea is that bringing together different perspectives and skill sets gives a problem more angles than any single department could manage alone.

CFTs have become more common in recent years, largely because they improve coordination during important decisions, break down some of the silos between departments, boost overall productivity, and make problem-solving genuinely easier when the right people are already in the room.
