Context in AI HR Systems
In AI HR systems, context is everything the AI needs beyond the actual request to give a correct, company-specific answer or take the right action: who is asking and what they are allowed to see, how the organization is actually set up, what is going on around the request, and the HR knowledge that explains why the rules exist in the first place. Without that context, the AI answers in generalities. With it, it answers for this company specifically.
Three kinds of context
Context comes in three kinds. Systemic context is the configuration: grades, approval chains, leave policies, legal entities, pay structures. Organizational context is the operating reality: who reports to whom, what changed last quarter, which team is under pressure right now. Domain context is the reasoning behind the rules, like why a transfer to a new country triggers specific compliance steps.
Where context should live
Where all of this lives matters more than almost anything else in the architecture. If it has to be assembled fresh for every request through API calls to systems that store data but not meaning, permissions and relationships get lost along the way. If it is represented natively in a form the AI can actually reason over, every agent starts from the organization's real, current state.
Context is not the same thing as a model's context window, which is just a token budget, and it is not about volume either. A structured map of relationships beats a bigger pile of records every time.
Niyuk is built on a context graph that holds all three kinds of context as one living model.
