ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System, software that employers and recruiters use to manage the hiring process. It automates the tedious parts: collecting and sorting resumes, tracking applications as they move through the pipeline, and handling communication with candidates.

For a company fielding a large volume of applications, an ATS is what keeps that volume manageable instead of turning into a pile of unsorted resumes nobody has time to read.
