AI Compliance for HR

Updated on: October 13, 2026 Sneha Gondhale 2 mins read

AI compliance for HR is the ongoing work of proving that the AI used in workforce decisions actually meets the legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements that apply to it: employment law, anti-discrimination law, data protection law, and AI-specific rules like the EU AI Act. Governance sets the rules. Compliance proves they were followed.

What compliance actually requires

Compliance runs on evidence. That means documenting what each AI system actually does and what data it uses, keeping records of human oversight, bias testing results, and retention and deletion logs, and being able to answer a regulator's or a candidate's question about one specific decision.

The obligations vary by jurisdiction. New York City's automated employment decision tools law, Illinois's AI video interview rules, and the EU's rules do not line up with each other, so a multi-country employer needs its compliance posture to be configurable per region rather than set globally by default.

Niyuk maintains model cards and AI fact sheets covering purpose, data used, fairness evaluation, and known limitations, shared with customers and auditors on request, and aligns its AI practices to GDPR and CCPA.
