The Karnataka government notified the Draft Rules for the Code on Wages in the gazette on 2 March 2021.
Applicability
Once in force, the Draft Rules will apply across the whole State of Karnataka, effective from the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette. They will repeal four existing regulations:
- Minimum Wages (Karnataka) Rules, 1958
- Payment of Wages (Karnataka) Rules, 1963
- Equal Remuneration (Karnataka) Rules, 1976
- Payment of Bonus (Karnataka) Rules, 1965
Compliances
The Draft Rules prescribe six forms covering procedures under the Code:
- Form I – Register of wages, overtime, fines, and deductions for damage or loss (Rules 17 & 38(1), (3))
- Form II – Application under Section 45(1) before the authority appointed under Section 45(1) of the Code on Wages, 2019 (Rule 36)
- Form III – Appeal before the Appellate Authority under the Code on Wages, 2019 (Rule 37)
- Form IV – Employee register (Rule 38(3))
- Form V – Wage slip (Rule 39)
- Form VI – Application under Section 56(4) for composition of offence (Rule 41)
