Who Counts as “Family”
Under the ESI Act, an Insured Person’s family includes:
- A spouse
- A minor legitimate or adopted child dependent on the IP
- A child wholly dependent on the IP’s earnings, who is either receiving education (until age 21) or an unmarried daughter
- A child who is infirm due to a physical or mental disability or injury, and wholly dependent on the IP’s earnings, for as long as the infirmity lasts
- Dependent parents
