Due Diligence
Due diligence is the process of verifying a deal or investment before it closes. The goal is straightforward: make sure what’s on paper matches reality before anyone commits.
It covers confirming the information presented during negotiations, spotting potential problems that weren’t disclosed upfront, gathering any additional details needed to make a sound decision, and checking that the deal meets whatever criteria the buyer has set. Deals that go through proper due diligence tend to have a higher success rate, which isn’t surprising. Knowing what you’re actually buying makes a difference.
