A desk audit is essentially an interview a compensation analyst conducts with whoever currently holds a position, meant to gather more detail to help assess how that role should be classified or paid. These aren’t done on a whim; they only happen when an analyst feels there’s genuine need for more clarity around the duties and responsibilities of a role that’s been formally submitted for reassessment.
