Audit

An audit is an independent examination of an organization’s records, processes, or practices to verify that things are operating as they should. In a financial context, that means reviewing accounts and transactions. In HR, it means evaluating how well the HR function itself is performing.

An HR audit looks at whether policies, procedures, and documentation are in place, current, and being followed. It’s less about finding wrongdoing and more about identifying gaps, inconsistencies, or areas where practice has drifted from policy.

Common areas covered in an HR audit include hiring and onboarding procedures, compensation structure, employee benefits, performance review processes, job descriptions, and termination and exit interview practices.
